Dear Friends,
Our groundhog weather predictors have indicated that there is to be six more weeks of winter. While we can't really be all that sure about the predictions
based on a groundhog seeing its shadow, we can rest assured that the
predictions found in the Bible are reliable and sure. The Bible is the Word of
the living God who knows the beginning and the end of all things. Of the many
predictions recorded in the Bible, some have already come to pass, some are
in the process of being fulfilled, and some are waiting for a future time period.
One of the best assurances that the future will come to pass, as predicted in
the Bible, is the fact that some prophecy has already been fulfilled. Just as
God has kept his Word in the past, we can in faith rest assured that He will
keep His Word in the future.
We have a special praise note. Back in November, I mentioned in the RLM
Record that we would need approximately $65,000 to finish the year in the
black. God not only supplied that but gave a surplus of approximately $1,700.
Praise the Lord!! And we thank you very much, our faithful prayer and
financial supporters!
We also want to take this opportunity to bring to your attention that legacies and bequests from wills have been a big financial support to us over the
years. We want to thank all those who have been involved with these in some
way. Also thank you to those who make use of our RLM Honour/Memorial
cards which are available at the office for donating to the ongoing work of
RLM. Continue to pray for more people to become prayer and financial
partners with us in this ministry.
Our Spring conference is fast approaching and will be held from Wednesday April 21st to Friday April 23rd at Cheapside Brethren in Christ Church. The
public meeting will be held on Thursday April 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at Hagersville
Pentecostal church Please mark the date on your calendar and invite your friends.
In early January, thanks to a special seat sale, Leesa and I made our annual trip north to Thunder Bay this year by plane. We drove with the Earls the 240
kms. of icy road to Armstrong and back. The van was very full of people,
luggage and the dog. On the Sunday morning, I gave the message. There were
24 of us, including quite a few young people. Armstrong is really suffering
from the slowdown in the logging industry. There is a lot of mining
exploration in the area but that has not boosted the economy of the town
which continues to shrink.
The last weekend of January, a prospective worker from the Brantford area went with Fred Grey and the Earls to see Armstrong and to preach on the
Sunday morning. His wife and their three very young children stayed behind.
Pray for them as they seek the Lord's guidance about serving the Lord in this
needy area.
While we were in Thunder Bay, we had our annual RLBC Advisory Committee
meeting. The Lord is blessing this work as it continues to grow in numbers and outreach. People in the Thunder Bay area are really supporting this work both with prayer and their finances. Jen Kennelly is now happily married to Robby Ahuji and sharing his ministry with Teen Challenge in Thunder Bay. Once again, Mark and Christy are looking for help. They are seeking a couple
who could help them at Round Lake Bible Camp for four or five months of the year. This is an urgent prayer request.
Please continue to pray about the future of RLM's Francophone work here in Ontario. Daniel and Bonnie Blanchet are now settled back in Quebec and
helping to care for Daniel's parents. Daniel's father is still waiting for needed
heart surgery.
When Daniel and I visited supporters in Sherbrooke, Quebec from time to
time, we often stayed in the home of Francely and Linda Francius. Francely
printed our RLM booklets several years ago. This haitian friend recently lost a
number of family members in the earthquake. He is now back in Haiti trying
to help. Please pray for the many people who are grieving the loss of loved
ones.
This is the first time sending this letter online to some of our supporters. If
you would like to receive it as a PDF attachment, please let us know at the
office by using rurallifemission@bellnet.ca or sending a note to me at
dlk10899@sympatico.ca.
Thank you again for standing with us.
